This year we are so excited to mix things up and try our hand at a new event – the first ever Trey’s Avengers Cornhole Tournament. Scheduled for Sunday July 17th – this won’t be your normal Cornhole Tournament – we are planning a few “Cheats for Charity” that will kick up the event and make these games really entertaining to the last.
Each two person team will receive two free drink tickets and will be eligible to win the tournament Grand Prize – a custom made set of Cornhole Boards – make to the winners specs! They are awesome.
The events are not just for the cornhole teams. We will have drink and appetizer Happy Hour Specials all day for everyone. And a dedicated kid’s are staffed by volunteers to entertain the half pints so parents can sit back and enjoy a beverage and some food in the Innsbrook Courtyard.
A huge thank you to you sponsor – Hurley’s Tavern – who will be providing awesome food and drink specials all afternoon.
So stay tuned to our Facebook event page for updates and details.

100% of proceeds go directly to JDRF One Walk RVA 2016 to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
The Annual JDRF Gala is an amazing event and for the past few years our family has been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity as volunteers. At the Gala we help raise over $250,000 in one evening with the help of amazing attendees, corporate sponsors and auction donations and winners.
This year I (Danielle) was asked to be one of the event photographers. Capturing the perfection of this event at the Jefferson Hotel was so much fun.
But of course, my favorite part (to watch and photograph) was Trey as one of the JDRF Youth Ambassadors. He has a few responsibilities as Youth Ambassador, such as writing Thank You notes to donors. But the best part is one of the last events of the evening – the ‘Fund A Cure’ Auction. Each of the kids is “auctioned” off at a set dollar amount. Because it was his 10th birthday that night, Trey was given the $10,000 slot.
Each Ambassador was also given a moment to tell a bit of their story of being a Type 1 Diabetic – how it affected their lives or why they hoped for a cure. I sat in the audience with tears in my eyes. Trey did awesome and made us all proud.
Each year we owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to our corporate sponsors. They help to contribute almost $3,000 to our efforts to support the JDRF.
So first, our thanks to our tee-shirt sponsors. There generous contribution earns them a spot on our tee shirts.
Additionally, our gratitude to the many businesses who donate amazing raffle tickets to our event each years.
This was our inaugural event for Trey’s Avengers. It was a huge leap of faith and a huge success.
Friends, family and beer drinking fans were invited out to Triple Crossing Brewing for live music, great raffles and a bit of Type 1 Awareness.
A huge thanks to Triple Crossing for hosting us and for their generous donation. Thank you to everyone who came, gave a supportive word, bought raffle tickets and hing out with us.
Trey’s Avengers is excited to have raised over $1,600 for JDRF today!
What a crazy and unexpected year it’s been and what better way to end it than this Walk. Almost a year ago, Trey received his original diagnosis of Type 1 – it was a scary and emotional time as we started our journey into the world of Type 1. A world we will not leave until a cure is found.
When our family decided to join the JDRF Walk for a Cure in July it was mostly a leap of faith. A “well…. why not” moment. We didn’t have big plans, we were just going to see what happened. And well, all of you, our amazing friends and family happened. We felt love and support from across the country as so many people send kind words and donations to JDRF and so many of our friends joined us on Walk Day. With your help, Treys Avenger’s raised over $7,200 in our first year! Thank you!
And let’s just say that Walk day was perfect. Weather was perfect, walk was beautiful! And Trey’s Avengers won the tee shirt design contest!!
